In August 2017, the global copper supply surplus was 85,000 tons

On November 20th the international copper research organisation (ICSG) said in its latest monthly report that the world’s refined copper market had a surplus of 85,000 tonnes in August, a shortfall of 7,000 tonnes in July.

In the first eight months of this year, the world’s refined copper market was in short supply of 52,000 tonnes, compared with a shortfall of 139,000 tonnes a year earlier.

In August, the global output of refined copper was 20.1 million tons, and the consumption was 1.92 million tons.

In August, China’s bonded warehouses had a surplus of 70,000 tons, or 7,000 tons in July.
